The state of play in Ancona.
Founded in 1963 in Ancona, Italy, the Italian CRN shipyard designs, engineers, and builds pure custom aluminum and steel/aluminum superyachts up to 95 meters. The shipyard works with owners to bring their unique vision, requirements, and lifestyle to life. In the end, CRN creates custom vessels that transcend the ordinary to deliver the ultimate in maritime luxury.
ITALIAN MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE
Thanks to its strong heritage, CRN embodies cutting-edge naval architecture, refined craftmanship, meticulous precision, and incredible flexibility. As both a pioneer and trendsetter in the industry, the shipyard is known for iconic, custom-made superyachts that showcase breakthrough innovations and unparalleled beauty. CRN’s craftsmanship and technological solutions continue to set the benchmark for sophisticated naval design and functional innovation too. They reflect the highest level of Italian manufacturing excellence.
The shipyard’s forward-looking vision further reflects in the executive office building for the Ferretti Group’s metal superyachts division, alongside dedicated hospitality spaces. These new areas seamlessly combine aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability. The design of the building itself, meanwhile, reflects CRN’s rich identity, history, and technical expertise. More than just a workspace, the new facilities offer an immersive experience. Therefore, they allow owners and guests to engage deeply in the yacht-creation process from start to finish.
One main guiding principle inspired the design of these spaces: the shipyard is like a CRN megayacht. For example, elements echo Italian aesthetics and the functionality, comfort, noble materials and exquisitely bespoke qualities of a pleasure vessel. The avant-garde architecture project perfectly integrates into its surroundings, too. It sits at the very heart of the yacht-building district in the regional capital of Marche. The location additionally is a gateway to the tourist marina and commercial port.
CRN SHIPYARD SUPERYACHTS
Currently, CRN has four prestigious superyachts under construction, each exemplifying the brand’s commitment to innovation and luxury. Each CRN vessel further reflects unyielding commitment to the finest in luxury, innovation, and craftsmanship, setting new standards among custom superyachts. The shipyard’s ability to turn visionary ideas into reality, coupled with its attention to every detail of construction, ensures that CRN’s creations are not just yachts, but true masterpieces.
The latest example, in fact, launched in January 2025, the 67-meter CRN M/Y Amor à Vida. Naval architecture is by CRN Engineering, while exterior and interior design is by the Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard. With six decks and sleek, aerodynamic lines, it ensures the highest standards of onboard living for owners, guests, and crew. Equipped with a hybrid propulsion system for increased fuel efficiency, it also includes a heat-recovery system to optimize energy use. Moran Yacht & Ship plays a key role as the owner’s representative and project-management team throughout construction.
The 60-meter CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball is at an advanced stage, too. Featuring naval architecture by CRN Engineering in collaboration with Vripack and interiors by Nauta Design, this yacht highlights conscious engineering with a Peak Shaving System for energy efficiency. Y.CO plays a central role as the owner’s representative and project-management team.
Lastly, two more yachts are under construction. The 86-meter CRN M/Y 144, expected in 2026, features CRN Engineering’s naval architecture and exteriors in collaboration with Vallicelli Design. With a launch set for 2027, the 67-meter CRN M/Y Project 146 has naval architecture by CRN Engineering. Nuvolari Lenard designed both exteriors and interiors. The hull of this hybrid-propelled yacht will arrive in Ancona in the spring. Moran Yacht & Ship has a decisive role as the owner’s representative and project-management team as well.
