Days after launching a Navetta 43, CRN slipped another new superyacht into the water this weekend. Known for now simply as project number CRN 130, the yacht measures 60 meters (197 feet).
This marks the seventh project of that LOA that CRN has launched since introducing the size in 2005. (Previous 60-meters include Blue Eyes.) Similar to other 60-meter CRN yachts, project CRN 130 has a balcony off the master suite and a beach club that forms when the transom folds down. Twin Caterpillar diesels should push her to a 15-knot top speed and 14-knot cruise speed.
Of course, project CRN 130 has some of her own distinctive features. While it’s covered by a protective film in the launch photo here, CRN 130 has a cream-painted steel hull. Inside, the decor emphasizes minimalism mixed with Art Deco elements, whether in the saloon or five guest staterooms. French designers Alexandre and Cristina Negoescu also incorporated circular, winding design elements and rooms that flow from one to another, so that spaces don’t feel restricted.
While Saturday was a day for celebration, it unfortunately did not last the entire weekend. Salvatore Basile, the CEO of the Ferretti Group (parent company of CRN), died suddenly on Sunday of a heart attack. Basile took over the company in 2009, in the midst of the recession and a particularly difficult period for the Ferretti Group, when it secured funds for reorganization. In a statement released on Monday, the Ferretti Group characterized Basile as having “strategic vision” and “enthusiasm, motivation, and strength.” Basile was 58 years old.
