African Country Wants Yacht Ebony Shine Released

Equatorial Guinea’s government wants its vice president’s yacht back. The yacht is the 249-foot (76-meter) Ebony Shine, which is under arrest due to alleged financial corruption on the part of her owner. Dutch authorities seized Ebony Shine in December. They did so at the request of Swiss courts, acting on behalf of the Swiss government. Continue reading


SeaKeepers Honors Yacht Owner Alexander Dreyfoos

Hurricane Matthew may have forced the International SeaKeepers Society to postpone its annual Bal de la Mer from October to this month. But, last weekend SeaKeepers supporters, all passionate about protecting the oceans, turned out to honor Alexander Dreyfoos. Chris Gongriep, whose love of sailing led to not just owning, but building superyachts, died today in his native Netherlands. He was 70 years old.
