Remember when yachts needed nearly an entire bookcase just to hold maintenance and operations manuals? Thankfully much of that has gone digital. While some builders create custom programs, others are increasingly investigating other options. The Ferretti Group falls into the latter category. It’s the first multi-brand yacht builder—and first with megayachts—to employ the boat-management tool The Boat Village, created by technology company My-Villages. The Ferretti Group is doing so for all of its new yachts sold in the Americas.
The Boat Village brings together boatbuilders, dealers, marinas, and service centers with yacht owners. Its boatbuilding partners until now have been primarily small powerboat builders, like Hinckley and Regal. The Ferretti Group clearly brings in a much wider spectrum of clientele.
Regardless of the size of the yacht owned, The Boat Village offers an all-in-one record-keeping and information-sharing service. Buyers of new Ferretti Group yachts will receive a profile on The Boat Village. There, owners and captains will be able to view the equipment manual, and even how-to videos should they do some maintenance themselves. The profile further will feature a custom maintenance schedule. That schedule has automatic reminders, too. In addition, the yacht’s service history will be recorded and accessible for review.
Also worth noting about The Boat Village is its focus on more than just maintenance. Ferretti Group clients can read model-specific updates, for example. Many owners of Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Custom Line, Riva, and more are repeat buyers. It simply makes sense to keep loyal buyers directly informed of developments. In addition, The Boat Village keeps track of logs and usage history.
All of the information in The Boat Village can be accessed via desktop, laptop, or any mobile device. It’s also accessible wherever the user is, stateside or abroad.
As stated above, the Ferretti Group is the first builder with megayachts to offer The Boat Village to its clients. Recently, two service firms in the megayacht sector signed up, too. They’re Bradford Marine and Front Street Shipyard. Existing clients who have their yachts maintained by the companies are being offered profiles on The Boat Village.
