Mangusta’s march into the American market continues. Happy owners recently celebrated the christening of their Mangusta 94. She’s hull number five in the series. What’s more, the megayacht is the seventh maxi open heading to U.S. shores from the builder, Overmarine Group, in five years.
Several physical features of the Mangusta 94 attracted these clients’ attention. For example, the yacht has a shallow draft. It’s 5’3” (1.6 meters). That makes her suited for use in areas like the Bahamas and Florida. Increasingly, the shipyard says, its American customers are cruising parts of the Northeast, too, like the Hamptons.
The yacht’s sporty turn of speed is a big factor as well. After all, a yacht that looks fast should actually go fast. Twin MTUs, paired with waterjets, reportedly push the megayacht upwards of 36 knots. The shipyard doesn’t disclose the fuel burn. But, it does say that the Mangusta 94 doesn’t consume as much as other performance-oriented yachts. It also adds that it engineered the hull (designed in house) for comfort even at slower speeds. This is an issue with some fast boats.
Maxi opens maximize alfresco enjoyment, so this was yet another attraction for the Mangusta 94’s buyers. The foredeck cockpit-like lounging and dining area should get good use. So should the flying bridge, which you might not realize is there unless you look closely. (The photo directly above is a previous launch, for comparison.) It’s a surprising feature for a maxi.
Speaking of surprising, the owners chose Winch Design for interior design. The studio may seem like an unusual choice, considering the significant-size superyachts it’s designed in recent years. They include the 243-foot (74-meter) Cloud 9, as well as the 279-foot (85-meter) Areti. They also include a few concepts created with shipyards that exceed 262 feet (80 meters). Unfortunately, there’s no information on the interior of this Mangusta. However, generally speaking, the Mangusta 94 has three staterooms, along with upper and lower saloons.
As mentioned above, this Mangusta 94 is the seventh Mangusta overall for use in American waters in the past five years. She’ll have company soon enough. An eighth maxi open from the brand heads stateside in the coming weeks.
