The early-morning hours of May 15 saw the eighth Westport 125 yacht celebrate her launch in Washington State. No sooner did she hit the water than she began sea trials, too, with the suitably nautical name Seas the Day.
The first Westport 125 (below), Black Gold, launched in 2016. That year may seem to imply that the shipyard has built a hull each year, a strong pace alongside the other models it offers. However, consider that the shipyard needed to shut down for several months in 2020 due to state-mandated Covid-19 restrictions.
The series came about because several Westport customers wanted to step up from the 112, a two-deck design. But, they weren’t entirely comfortable with taking on the 130, a trideck. The raised-pilothouse Westport 125 therefore provides an easier transition to larger yacht ownership.

The owners of Seas the Day requested a general arrangement inside in keeping with what nearly all buyers want these days. That is, a master suite sits forward on the main deck, while four staterooms below decks cater to their guests. Additionally, Seas the Day has a healthy-size beach club for close-to-the-water activities and relaxation. The 26’2” (7.98-meter) beam should make the social areas on the main and lower decks comfortable.
Although details on the décor aren’t available, generally speaking the Westport 125 yacht offers a choice of sapele mahogany for staterooms and lounges. Crew areas, meanwhile, can feature either anigre or beech wood. Since the series is semi-custom, owners can bring their own interior designers into the project. They can re-arrange rooms, too, like having a gym below decks amid three guest staterooms.
Westport anticipates handing over Seas the Day to the owners by the end of this month. (UPDATE, MAY 25, 2023: Delivery took place this week.)
