Why choose between cruising or racing? Follow the lead of the owner of Wisp. He wanted a cruiser that might occasionally race in friendly competitions. These are some of the first photos of Wisp, measuring 156’3″ (47.65 meters). She’s expected to cruise the Med this summer.
Royal Huisman came together with Hoek Design to create this classic-looking sloop. The owner of Wisp had admired Hoek Design’s previous work with throwback styles. Note in particular the spoon bow, a time-honored element. (The term spoon bow gets its name from how its shape mimics that of the back of a spoon.) It’s paired with a counter stern, for lovely looks.
The owner of Wisp also knew the naval-architecture firm and shipyard alike turned out proven performers. Of course, he brought his own ideas to the table, too. He wanted a bluewater cruiser that avoided excessive heel. He further knew enough about design and performance to request that Hoek Design make modifications to its initial design to make it happen. Royal Huisman says that Wisp should be more than capable of logging many miles for years to come.
