If a hat trick is a major accomplishment, then what do you call four successes in a row? At Damen Yachting, it’s called the Amels 60 yacht, since hull number four just launched.
While the series announcement came in 2019, hull number one of the Amels series debuted last year. Equally noteworthy, two more hulls are in the works. Like her predecessors, this Amels 60 bears striking styling by Espen Øino, Highlights include a long, lean-looking bow and angular shapes on the upper deck. Of course, also like her sisters, naval architecture and engineering is from the Damen Yachting in-house team.
This isn’t to say, however, that the exterior design is unchangeable. In fact, Damen Yachting does allow owners to make special structural requests. The owners of hull number four took advantage of this. Firstly, and perhaps most noticeably, the window shapes are different. They wanted long expanses of glass to each side of the main deck. Overall, the glass is essentially full height in the saloon, since the panes are six feet (1.9 meters) high.
Inside, the 197-foot (60-meter) Amels 60 yacht affords owners abundant ways to personalize the atmosphere. The owners of hull number four decided to work with two studios, Studio Indigo and Pure Living. Unfortunately, at least for now, the materials and the look and feel of the interior areas are remaining confidential. However, some of the general arrangement requests are available. Firstly, the master suite on the main deck has an adjacent convertible room. It can be a gym, for example, an office, or even a children’s cabin. Yet another possibility is an extra VIP stateroom, complementing the remaining four guest accommodations on the lower deck. As for the master, the owners can take advantage of a fold-down balcony.
Other special requests throughout the 830-gross-ton yacht include a sauna in the beach club and a hot tub on the sundeck. Finally, a significant-size, 29-foot (9-meter) tender can stow on the foredeck.
Wherever the owners eventually go, their Amels 60 yacht offers a flexible operational profile. Hybrid propulsion allows silent cruising up to 7 knots, solely on the electric motors, for instance. The diesel engines will allow transatlantic and other long-range travels at 13 knots.
Delivery should take place in October.
