With a little over a dozen deliveries to date, Bering Yachts is inaugurating its newly formed superyachts division in a big way. It recently signed a contract for the first Bering 165 yacht, a project it has had in its sights for a few years.
In fact, the shipyard released the first details about what it also called the B165 series in 2024. She’s a big jump in size and volume from the largest delivery to date, a Bering 121, although a Bering 125 is nearing completion. The 162-footer (49-meter) further represents a change in design partners. Previously, Bering Yachts has taken on all design and engineering in house. This time around, however, it’s partnered with Valentin Design and Eureka Yachts. The former is a Switzerland-based engineering and design studio, handling the styling for the Bering 165 yacht. Eureka Yachts, meanwhile, is a naval architecture and engineering company in Turkey. Established by four naval architects, it has contributed the hull design and overall engineering package.

To that end, the Bering 165 yacht stays true to the spirit of exploration. Best range should exceed 5,000 nautical miles, according to the shipyard, at 10 knots under half load. Caterpillar propulsion draws from healthy fuel tankage, about 17,171 gallons (65,000 liters). Maximum speed should be 15 knots, further underscoring that taking on the journey, not just ending up at the destination, is the priority.
With a volume of 499 gross tons, the Bering 165 yacht series unfolds over five decks. Aberton Yachts, which represents the owner, collaborated closely with the shipyard to create an interior arrangement suiting the buyer’s lifestyle. “Over the course of the year, all three teams kept pushing the boundaries,” explains Igor Cherentaev, a broker with Aberton Yachts. This meant “setting increasingly ambitious goals, finding smart solutions, and constantly balancing everything until we arrived at what we believe is one of the strongest explorer yachts in the sub-500-GT class.”

One of the solutions, for example, is a private deck for the owner (above), with both inside and alfresco areas. Enjoying breakfast while seated outside, watching the sunrise, is possible thanks to a dumbwaiter leading to a private pantry on the owner’s deck from the galley below. (The alfresco space, aft on the owner’s deck, additionally has a hot tub and sunbathing space.) Relaxing before joining guests is possible as well, in a lounge on the same deck.
Yet another highlight of the arrangement, an indoor-outdoor lounge on the bridge deck. It’s a day-to-night space, too. While the Bering 165 is underway, guests can enjoy uninterrupted views, though equally extraordinary ones will come after climbing up to the crow’s nest. Once at anchor they can toast to the completed journey at the bridge-deck bar. Once the stars come out, the crew can set up a movie screen near a firepit (below).

As construction progresses (the delivery should be in about three years), Bering Yachts should reveal more about what Valentin Design calls “a genuine crossover explorer.”
