Cantieri di Pisa is providing more insight into a project it revealed last year. With construction well underway, the Cantieri di Pisa custom 40-meter yacht – a 131-footer – pays homage to the yard’s past while remaining fully rooted in contemporary design.
A French client was in negotiations with the builder for some time prior to signing the contract in early 2025. The megayacht’s coin ceremony occurred in May 2025, with him on hand. Since that time, the owner and his representatives have stayed in close contact with the yard, recently meeting with Marco Massabò, the shipyard’s CEO. Massabò and the rest of the management took over the yard with the goal of presenting Cantieri di Pisa’s most well-known design details through a modern lens. “This is the first boat built by Cantieri di Pisa after the change of direction, and the fact that it’s a fully bespoke project requires the development of design solutions that make no compromises on quality standards,” Massabò explains.

Purposely to pay homage to the past, the Cantieri di Pisa custom 40-meter yacht will have metallic silver paint. One of the builder’s most famous deliveries, the yacht Nena, an Akhir 118, bore this color scheme. Additionally, the signature black stripes of the Akhir series will be re-imagined in dark metallic gray. Naturally, the overall design is a flying-bridge motoryacht, also in keeping with the builder’s past.
With a volume of 450 gross tons, the 131-footer has already seen the full hull and part of the superstructure construction complete. Simultaneously, interior structural fit-out for areas like the crew is underway. Four cabins will accommodate them below decks, although the captain and first officer will have space on the upper deck. This is far different from classic launches from the yard, and even current launches from other builders. The Cantieri di Pisa custom 40-meter yacht will have six staterooms for the owner and guests, too. This is yet another significant modern difference. And, in yet another modern nod, the main-deck master suite has a port-side alfresco area. A sliding-glass door provides access and protects the owner’s privacy while inside the yacht. It has one-way visibility, with the exterior appearing to blend into the silver hull.

Featuring a steel hull and aluminum and fiberglass superstructure, the Cantieri di Pisa 40-meter custom yacht should top out at 15 knots. Upon delivery, her owner will offer the yacht for charter, which is why she’ll meet Bureau Veritas Charter classification. It’s the same reason why pantries will be on each deck. The owner is further looking forward to spending significant periods aboard himself, for multiple days and possibly weeks at a time.
