Polaris 48 Yacht, for Long-Range Cruising and Bay Bliss From Cantieri di Pisa

Some people believe the best part of yachting is the journey to a destination. Others, meanwhile, say the destination itself is the best part. Cantieri di Pisa seems to believe there’s no reason to choose, given the focus of its new Polaris series. Starting with the Polaris 48 yacht, you can take long cruises plus make the most of time in distant bays.

The steel and aluminum Polaris series blends the concepts of voyaging and enjoying extended anchoring in a few ways. Firstly, the 157-foot (48-meter) Polaris 48 yacht has what Cantieri di Pisa calls an Eco High Power Hull. It’s a displacement design with extra emphasis on lowering fuel consumption and maximizing range. The shipyard expects the megayacht achieving a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots and a top end of 16 knots with MAN power. Notably, Cantieri di Pisa is also weighing hybrid propulsion and analyzing data accordingly.

Secondly, for making the most of anchorages, the Polaris 48 yacht has two particularly long, open deck areas. The upper deck serves as the primary social space, with plenty of ways to set up loose furnishings. Conveniently, they lead inside to the main dining area. The main deck, meanwhile, has enough space to stow three tenders, including a 26-footer (8-meter). An alternate possibility is the rescue tender plus two PWCs. Regardless, making it easier to launch and retrieve the toys, the gunwale opens outward. Naturally, when the toys go in the water, loose furniture can turn this part of the main deck into a shaded relaxation spot. All in all, about 1,615 square feet (150 square meters) of flexible space is out here.

Interestingly, the interior arrangement of the Polaris 48 makes owners and special guests more excited about journeying and arriving. The shipyard and the Parisotto + Formenton design studio have put the master suite and a VIP on the main deck. Being in proximity to the expansive alfresco area, plus waking up to terrific vistas daily are sure to be appreciated. Of course, you can change this arrangement, but it’s pleasantly surprising enough that most clients could very well keep it.

What they also might keep is the approach that the Parisotto + Formenton design studio uses for décor. As a nod to Cantieri di Pisa’s legendary Akhir series, for instance, they chose pickled teak, carbon fiber, bronze, glass, and brass. Overall, the ambience is warm and sunlit.

Antonio Luxardo, Cantieri di Pisa’s chief designer and responsible for the Polaris series styling, believes the new twists on livability will hold strong appeal. “The new line features different types of boats and materials compared to the brand’s past production, but with immediately recognizable lines that tap into its traditional values,” he adds.
