With construction having started a few weeks ago, RMK Yachts expects to begin moving into an entirely new, yacht-only facility during the last quarter of this year.
The recreational arm of the commercial and naval shipbuilder RMK Marine, RMK Yachts currently operates in Tuzla, Turkey. It’s the same property outside of Istanbul where its parent company’s vessels undertake construction. The new home will be in Yalova, which is also in proximity to Istanbul. When finished, the new yachting center will occupy 753,474 square feet of waterfront.

The move is for practical reasons and for better market positioning. Firstly, separating the recreational production from the commercial and military production provides more dedicated capacity for each. Specifically, superyachts will undergo construction and outfitting in three sheds measuring 98 by 394 feet. Two further hangars will handle yacht refits, with one being 131 by 262 feet and the other being 115 by 180 feet. Additional open space will be for refits, too, encompassing about 107,639 feet. Nearly 2,300 feet of quay length and a floating dock capable of handling megayachts to 492 feet will further be available.
Secondly, plans are underway to strengthen RMK Yachts’ reach among international superyacht clientele. From new builds to refits and complicated restorations, such as the recent restoration of the classic yacht Cangarda, are in its sights. Having dedicated workshops and offices help. Additionally, the new site permits creating hospitality spaces solely for owners and their representatives. It also allows creating further social areas like gyms and crew-training areas, plus guest suites. “The true value of a shipyard is not defined by its machinery, but by the intellect, craftsmanship, and creativity it produces,” says Cüneyt Okcu, RMK Yachts’ director.

Complementing the LEED-certified construction areas, docking and marina services are coming as well. Just as notable, a yachting museum will be part of the property, developed with the Rahmi M. Koç Museum. This is the same museum that houses the yacht Cangarda.
The RMK Yachts shipyard in Yalova should be fully up to speed in early 2027.
