Having worked together on two megayachts so far, RMK Marine and Hot Lab Yacht & Design have joined forces for two versions of a concept platform, the RMK 5000. The RMK 5000 is available as a True Luxury Explorer or a Leisure model.
The two megayachts have a handful of similarities. Each is beneath the 500-gross-ton level and capable of long-range cruising. The True Luxury Explorer and the Leisure both have a beach club and accommodations for 10 in the owner’s party and eight crew, plus the captain. And, both displacement hulls will also be capable of navigating in icy waters. The differences, of course, come not just in how an owner will have the interior arrangements configured, but also in how “Explorer” and “Leisure” are defined. The RMK 5000 True Luxury Explorer (above), for example, emphasizes an active water-oriented lifestyle, with the aft deck and transom dedicated to stowage of traditional tenders and PWCs, plus a personal sub, hovercraft, and dive equipment. Or, skip the main tender on deck and instead have the space feature a touch-and-go helipad. Other below-decks areas feature abundant refrigerators and freezers, cold garbage stowage, and more stowage.
Meanwhile, the RMK 5000 Leisure megayacht calls for a pool and sunbeds on the main aft deck, stowing the tender in the garage. In addition, the megayacht positions the dining room directly inside the main-deck doors, with alfresco dining one deck up. In the Explorer version, there are still two options for dining, but both are enclosed. One is on the bridge deck, while the other is on the observation deck and can become an alfresco area at the press of a button.
RMK Marine says that both the RMK 5000 True Luxury Explorer and Leisure versions are available with traditional diesel power or diesel-electric propulsion. Unfortunately, the shipyard is unable to provide specifics on performance (top and cruise speed, range, etc.), as it has not yet determined them.
We’ll post more images of the two designs to the Megayacht News Facebook page.
