With 15 days to go before Christmas, no doubt there’s more than one of you reading this who hasn’t finished ticking off everything on your shopping list–heck, there are probably plenty of you who haven’t even started. Whichever category you fall into, if you or the Missus/Mister are in the market for a new megayacht, you’re in luck. There are a handful of fine brokerage yachts available as well as spec projects just waiting for an owner to put down a healthy deposit so that construction can start.
But with so many options from so many shipyards and brokerage houses, how’s a person to choose? Well, how about choosing the most expensive ones? Here are two–one presently afloat, the other an on-paper project–going for top dollar:
Built by Benetti in 2005, this is Allegro. Measuring just shy of 184 feet, she can be yours for €44 million (about $64.5 million). Similar in profile to other recent Benetti deliveries such as Sunday, Galaxy, and Amnesia, Allegro has a 36-foot beam, which makes for a voluminous interior. That volume is put to particular good use in the main-deck master, which features a split-level design: a private saloon/viewing area on the higher level and the bedroom and his and her heads on the lower level. The central listing is through Merle Wood & Associates (though any of the reputable sales brokerage houses can assist you).
Still not good enough? Then check out this 360’11” project that Laurent Giles Naval Architects has designed. Two VIP staterooms are on the main deck, while the owner gets an entire level to him/herself. The latter contains an office, his and her heads that each rival the size of staterooms aboard some yachts, a library, and (the piece de resistance) a rotating bed. The uppermost deck is shared by the helipad, plenty of lounge/sun chairs flanking the spa pool (which overlooks the front of the yacht), and a handy day head and showers, preventing anyone in a wet bathing suit from having to traipse back down below to use the facilities. Robert Laska Luxury Yachts has the central listing, offering her for a cool $195 million.
Which one would I pick? Well, actually, neither. Not because there’s anything wrong with them, mind you. It’s just that another yacht (coincidentally a Benetti) already conveniently bears my name:
Now if only I could convince the owner and his wife to part with the vessel…
