It’s been the New Year here on the East Coast of the USA for nearly ten hours now, so happy 2008 to you all. Hopefully you celebrated with family and friends and had a heckuva good time.
One couple who certainly did is rocker Sting and his wife Trudie Styler. They’ve been spending the past several days in Sydney, Australia, aboard Phoenix 1, a 35-meter (about 115-foot) megayacht based full time Down Under. Sting, Trudie, and their children were expected to watch the spectacular fireworks display in Sydney Harbour from aboard the yacht; some published reports had actress Nicole Kidman, singer Keith Urban, actor Hugh Jackman, and his wife Deborra-lee Furness joining them to take in the sights, too.
Various shutterbugs captured the couple prior to New Year’s Eve relaxing on deck and waving to other boaters; one paparazzo even caught Sting sucking on Trudie’s toe (everyone together now: eeeeeeeewwwww!!!).
As for the yacht, which docked at Rozelle Bay Superyacht Marina last Thursday to receive them, Phoenix I features accommodations for eight in two VIP staterooms, a double room, and a twin cabin. She carries snorkeling and diving gear as well. You can enjoy these and other amenities yourself the next time you’re down the Great Barrier Reef way, as the yacht charters for AUS$13,200 (about $11,600) per day.
