December 1 marked the joining of the hull and superstructure of Project Azuro at Heesen Yachts. The megayacht is the fourth in Heesen’s 50-meter aluminum series, 163’4” (49.8 meters) overall.
In traditional Heesen fashion, Project Azuro was started on spec. The interior design is still available for customization, based on an initial plan for an owner’s party of 12 by Francesco Paszkowski of Paszkowski Design. Paszkowski has recommended that Project Azuro have an 82-foot-long (25-meter-long) indoor-outdoor entertainment space on the main deck. It’s created via sliding doors that can be kept open between the saloon and aft deck. He envisions a similar setup with the skylounge, but glass doors wrapping around each side and being retractable. Paszkowski further suggests the megayacht be fitted with three dining areas: main deck, foredeck, and upper deck.
Also in traditional Heesen fashion, Project Azuro should see a good turn of speed. The shipyard anticipates a 23-knot top end at half load, with twin MTUs.
Heesen plans to release more details about the megayacht’s interior design in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Project Azuro is available for sale, with an expected completion in the spring of 2014.
