Developed and made in Poland, the Jetpad is one of the latest in-demand watertoys. It’s likened by its manufacturer as a go-kart, safe for children and adults to operate. It’s also battery-powered, for reduced emissions and noise.
Being sold via Marine Toys and Tenders so far to yacht owners, the Jetpad measures eight feet (2.44 meters) long and 2’10” (0.9 meter) high. Beam shouldn’t pose a problem for your tender garage, either: 3’3” (1 meter). Top speed is a reported 20 knots, and it reportedly can go from 0 to 18.6 mph (30 kph) in three seconds. Charging time takes one hour. The Jetpad lithium-ion battery provides one hour of waterborne fun as well.
A few features make Jetpad seem well suited to children. Geo-fencing comes standard, for example. This means you can set up “barriers,” and therefore alerts, if your kids zoom out past a set point. Also standard is a user-level management system. This lets the crew adjust the Jetpad settings, even from on deck. Related to this, the Jetpad uses radio-frequency identification (RFID), via a keypad, for each rider. Similar to a PIN, a personal ID is assigned to each user. Once the ID is entered, the Jetpad settings associated with that person’s abilities are activated. Furthermore, anti-collision system is optional.
Because the Jetpad is battery-powered, it emits less emissions than traditional PWCs. It also shouldn’t disturb people ashore, making it suitable for areas with noise ordinances.
