In three short years since its release, the Flyboard has become an exciting, and highly entertaining, watersports option for megayachts. It’s a board with a set of attached boots, powered by a water hose in turn attached to a PWC. Letting you shoot a few stories high, do mid-air spins, and dive down into the water, the Flyboard is for those whose daily wake up comes from more than a cup of coffee. It’s said to be relatively simple to operate, too, taking less than half an hour of instruction. (Though, mastering loops while hovering over the water certainly takes more.)
FlyCaptain, a group of flyboarding and hoverboarding enthusiasts, headed out to the French Riviera last week to flyboard among the megayachts off Cannes and other locations. In this video, Damone Rippy, a professional flyboarder and the current North American Flyboard Champion (yes, there are global competitions), demonstrates why the watertoy has caught on so quickly.
