Just as owners step up to bigger boats, so, too, do shipyards. At 129 feet (39.23 meters), Aurelia 29 is a step up for both her owners as well as Cantiere delle Marche (CdM).
The custom megayacht is further notable for being the second collaboration between the clients and the shipyard. They previously came together for Galego, part of the Darwin Class 102 semi-custom series. A true explorer yacht, she features accommodations for 10, unusual for her LOA. The owners planned diving and other adventures on both sides of the Atlantic upon taking delivery last year. As much as they looked forward to these, however, they felt a bit sad. In fact, one of the owners says they often reflected on the fun they had planning and building Galego. “Building a yacht at Cantiere delle Marche is like living a perfectly planned adventure with your best friends,” he explains. “The atmosphere around the project, the attention to even the smaller details, and the dedication of every single member of the team are just incredible.”
Reunited, the owners and shipyard plan Aurelia 29 for delivery in mid-2020. Similar to Galego, naval architecture and styling are by Hydro Tec. Although they aren’t revealing much about the new megayacht just yet, she promises active pursuits. Bicycles, a 26-foot (8-meter) tender, and more will be aboard, for example. If their previous project is any clue, then Aurelia 29 will have extra-high headroom. The owners are quite tall. The gym should also be a focal point, given their fondness for fitness.
Speaking of fondness, the owners are further fans of classic cars. You may have guessed that, given “Aurelia” in the name. It’s a nod to the famed Lancia Aurelia from the 1950s. (As for the “29” in her name, it’s the date upon which the owners signed the contracts for both this megayacht and, interestingly enough, Galego.) In terms of decor, expect classic style that eschews trendiness.
With a 27’9” (8.5-meter) beam, Aurelia 29 will pursue horizons across multiple waterways. Anticipate a 5,000-nautical-mile range at 10 knots under Caterpillar power.
Aurelia 29 is at this point the second-largest CdM in build. Next year sees the biggest, a 131-footer (40-meter), launch.
