Part of the new flying-bridge series for Canados, the first 969 Coliseum is ready for lay-up at the shipyard in Rome. The model combines features more common of bigger megayachts with the conveniences of ones in her size range.
The model gets her name from her LOA: 96’9” (a little over 29.5 meters). Canados is using fiberglass construction with Kevlar and Aramat in the superstructure. Even with her LOA, she’s actually closer to 78 feet (24 meters) in waterline length, making her qualify for simpler regulations.
The 969 Coliseum, with a 21’7” (6.62-meter) beam, boasts big-boat features in the configuration. A significant highlight is the flexibility of the aft dining area. (Yes, the dining area and saloon trade spaces in the standard layout.) For instance, curved glass doors to each side separate it from the aft deck. But, they can slide open partway, thereby partly opening up the dining area to the outdoors. For a fully immersive alfresco experience, open the doors all the way, sliding them around on the track underfoot (as seen in the image at top) to meet each other inside. This way, the dining area becomes part of the aft deck, entirely separate from the saloon.
Canados applies further creativity to the indoor-outdoor experience aboard the 969 Coliseum. You can slide back the floor-to-ceiling glass panels to each side of the saloon seating area. Better yet, the main-deck master (below), unusual enough for this LOA, has access to a private foredeck space. It comes via an eight-foot-wide (2.5-meter-wide) sliding glass section. This invites you to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or cocktails either out in the open or beneath the shade of a bimini.
Ready for more surprises? The 969 Coliseum has a split-level master head, with an extra vanity and dressing area on one level and the tub and toilet on the other. For your guests, you have a choice of three or four staterooms. In the smaller total, you get a full-beam VIP. Furthermore, from lowest deck to the flying bridge, you get to collaborate with Marco Casali – Too Design to tailor the interiors.
To enhance the on-water experience, Canados equips the 969 Coliseum with two toy garages. A jet tender can sit in one, while a PWC stows in the other. Want to take another boat along? The swim platform becomes a launch pad/stowage area, too. Finally, for performance, four engine options allow anticipated cruising speeds between 23 and 26 knots and top speeds between 26 and 29 knots. Range is limited to 650 nautical miles, but Canados anticipates buyers will be more coastal cruisers and island hoppers.
The first 969 Coliseum can be yours in spring 2018.
