A yacht enthusiast from Turkey is the buyer of hull number seven in the Fast 125 series from Benetti.
The Italian builder is making quick work of the Fast 125 series, too. Benetti announced this fast-displacement series in 2013, debuting hull number one later that year. (Pictured above is a more recent delivery, Skyler.) The concept brings together the benefits of full-displacement hull forms, namely efficient fuel burn, with those of planning hulls, namely good speed, along with a wavepiercer-type bow for even better performance. In terms of performance, expect a 1,750-nautical-mile range at 12 knots, under MTU power. The Fast 125 should also max out at 24 knots and cruise at 17½ knots.
Yet another highlight of the Fast 125 is the use of Rolls Royce’s Azipull propulsion system: azimuthing pulling propellers. Instead of the typical propeller structure, where the blades face aft, a pulling propeller faces forward. In addition, as the name states, it helps to pull the yacht, versus push the yacht, through the water. Best suited to yachts meant to exceed 20 knots, the Azipull reportedly makes the series about 30 percent more efficient than similar-size planning yachts. Yet additional benefits of the Azipull, which is entirely carbon fiber, are reduced sound and vibration in guest areas. In fact, because the propeller sits farther aft below the water, the engine room goes farther aft. This, in turn, lets guests sleep in their staterooms or simply enjoy time alone in more peace and quiet. In fact, the Benetti Fast 125 meets RINA Comfort Class standards.
Quite a crowd will enjoy the Fast 125, given accommodations for 10 people amid four decks. The twin stateroom among the guest cabins has an extra Pullman berth, too, just in case the owner’s party becomes a bit bigger party. Either way, the Fast 125 further has alfresco areas made for lounging in the sun and enjoying the view at anchor. The latter is particularly true of the beach club. The beach club is a dedicated space as well, not a double-duty area that sometimes contains tenders and toys. Benetti includes a separate toy garage forward on the Fast 125, with a side-opening hatch.
Expect the relaxation areas throughout this Fast 125 to feature eucalyptus and tay woods. The owner selected the Air decor package, a modern, minimalistic look designed by RWD. On a related note, if you like the series but aren’t a modernist, not to worry. The series offers two other looks: Sea, with tones like blues and greens; and Land, with warm tones.
