With a volume of 334 gross tons and a heart set on seeking distant shores, the first Ocean King Ducale 120 superyacht will soon prove herself at sea.
Ocean King, based near Venice, Italy, specializes in metal ocean-going yachts. The Ocean King Classic 108, for instance, delivered a few years ago, can complete a round-trip Atlantic crossing on one tank of fuel. The 120’7” (36.8-meter) Ducale 120, meanwhile, should be able to cover 5,500 nautical miles at 8 knots under MAN power. Even at 10 knots, she should still be able to tackle transatlantic voyages, since range should be 4,500 nautical miles. Her bulbuous bow, hull design, and overall engineering come from Ginton Naval Architects and inNave.

With styling and interior design by VYD, the first Ocean King Ducale 120 features significant custom amenities. Several of them, in fact, reveal that the owner intends to entertain friends and family frequently. For instance, the megayacht has two swimming pools. That’s unusual enough for some of the largest yachts in the world, and certainly more so for a project of her size. One of the pools—heated, too—sits on the sundeck. While sunbeds encircle it, much of the rest of the deck has a flexible arrangement. Loose furnishings and even a mobile bar let the owner and seven-person crew set things up as the day’s or night’s activities dictate. The second pool, meanwhile, is salt water and sits sandwiched between the aft deck and beach area. Since this puts it close to the saloon, too, it encourages guests to use the main deck as an indoor-outdoor lounge.

Bearing a 27’9” (8.5-meter) beam, the Ocean King Ducale 120 has three decks for the owner’s and guests’ use. Naturally, the owner has a full-beam suite on the main deck, while four guest cabins are below decks. Slide-open, full-height windows flanking the saloon should make the room look and feel more airy. And speaking of airy, an overall 2,691 square feet (250 square meters) of space aboard is entirely open.
In related news, Ocean King is constructing a project in its Doge series. Specifically, she’s a Doge 400 GT, yet another exploration-oriented yacht. She has more shippy looks, too, including aft-raked wheelhouse windows and a pushed-forward deckhouse. Delivery should take place next year.
