Long-range megayachts often tout the ability to cross the ocean on one tank of fuel. Ocean King says you can not only venture across the Atlantic Ocean, but also return on the same tank of fuel with its newest model. The Ocean King Classic 108 has the soul of an explorer with the amenities of a luxury cruiser.
At 350 gross tons, this 111’5” (34-meter) megayacht has big volume for her dimensions. She also carries a healthy 13,605 gallons (51,500 liters) of fuel, consumed by twin 800-hp MAN diesel engines. At a leisurely 8½ knots, the Ocean King Classic 108 should achieve 5,850 nautical miles. Even at the maximum 14-knot speed, the RINA-classed yacht should still see a good range, 2,250 nautical miles.
Ocean King says it takes a commercial-shipping approach to construction, particularly technical systems, while maintaining superyacht style. Therefore, it plans a double-bottomed steel hull paired with an aluminum superstructure, with a combination of rugged as well as rounded looks outside. Bearing a 27’2” (8.3-meter) beam, the yacht additionally rises four decks high.
VYD Studio, responsible for both styling and interior design, has specified a five-stateroom layout. Naturally, the master suite spans the full beam on the main deck. While the decorative materials are, of course, open to buyer choice, VYD Studio has sample designs with brushed, pale-tinted oak (above) to spur your imagination. These designs include the tender garage, which converts to a beach club. It also includes an upper-deck captain’s cabin, and a sundeck complete with a barbecue.
In related news, the shipyard recently started building a Ducale 118 (above), a slightly different-style explorer from its Ducale series. She should be finished next summer.
