Boasting an ample volume of 2,175 gross tons, Amels 8001, which is the very first in the Amels 80 yacht series, made a big splash to close out April.
The Amels 80 belongs to the long-popular Amels Limited Editions semi-custom lineup. Even though each of the models has a set technical platform, owners are given broad opportunity to tailor the designs. This applies as much to structural features as it does the interior arrangement and décor, too.

This yacht’s owner certainly wanted the project to stand apart from others on the water, given the profile. A deep graphite tone characterizes the Amels 8001’s superstructure, for instance. Additionally, the domes dotting her uppermost deck appear to have a metallic-like paint. Both colors strike a contrast with the more traditional white hull, while simultaneously accentuating her sculptured lines. Even the owner’s team at Burgess, which served as the representative throughout the build, agree. “Upon delivery, she is set to become an icon—instantly recognizable,” says Sean Bianchi, a Burgess partner and head of Burgess Technical Services.
Bianchi further says she has “a bespoke interior like no other.” No illustrations are available of the décor, but the looks reflect soft, neutral colors. Natural materials dominate as well. The decor and layout result from Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design working with Damen Yachting for the first time. In fact, Damen Yachting and the studio created the Amels 80 yacht series before publicly revealing it. As has been the case previously, the shipyard chose to start construction on spec to offer buyers a quicker delivery time. The owner of Amels 8001 signed the contract just six months after the reveal, according to Bianchi.

Among the things that caught the owner’s eye: six staterooms for family and friends. Although it’s not known whether this owner went with Sinot’s suggestion, generally speaking the studio created the interior to allow one of the VIPs to be a flex space, serving as a lounge when wanted. Regardless, another feature this client appreciates is the private owner’s deck directly above the main deck. Making it more enjoyable, it has an alfresco area with a hot tub. “You will feel at home the moment you step onboard,” asserts Paul Costerus, one of Sinot’s interior designers.
Outside for everyone to enjoy, the 262-foot (80-meer) Amels 80 yacht has a 2,153-square-foot (200-square-meter) sundeck. Furthermore, a 21-foot-long (6.5-meter-long) swimming pool should be a crowd pleaser, as will the spa, sauna, and gym inside the beach club. The beach club further has a hammam and a massage room. Suffice it to say stress should melt away.

Sea trials should begin soon, with the owner taking delivery in time to enjoy a maiden voyage during the summer. In the meantime, a few more yachts in the series are in various stages of construction, including Amels 8003, hull number three. That particular project will be ready next year.
