By the very nature of being able to customize aspects of a megayacht, owners get something unique. The cobalt blue color calling out from the hull and superstructure of the yacht Sui Generis tells you she is certainly like no other.
This 133-footer (40-meter) happens to the latest launch in the Baglietto DOM133 series. Incorporating a variety of sizes, the DOM line is a “home away from home” approach to living on the water. In fact, translated from Latin, dom means “home.” Perhaps not coincidentally, the yacht Sui Generis has a Latin name, too. It translates to “of its own kind.”
The owners clearly wanted to distinguish this sporty cruiser from not just other DOM133 projects, but also from other superyachts on the water. For example, a major structural modification has taken place inside. Instead of a pretty traditional stairway gradually winding its way through the three decks, the yacht Sui Generis puts a striking and not-insignificant piece of art in its midst in the main foyer. Baglietto’s engineers needed therefore to modify the foyer itself, making it larger.

Yet another highly personal request impacted the staterooms. Typically, yachts in this size range have four staterooms for friends and family below decks. The rooms usually are a combination of queens and twins, too. However, the owners worked with Baglietto’s engineers and its interior-design team to turn two of the VIP staterooms into a convertible cabin. It features a sliding wall, transforming the spaces into a full-beam retreat. (Maximum beam is 28’5”/8.7 meters.) In every sense, it’s a second master suite.
Baglietto says these are just some of many tailored touches throughout the yacht Sui Generis. Alfresco areas further received special treatment. The owners requested a fully custom pool for the sundeck. It’s a nice complement to the infinity pool—a standard feature the owners chose to keep—in the two-level beach area.

Sea trials set to begin soon should confirm a top speed of 17 knots. Best range should come at 15 knots, specifically 3,500 nautical miles. It’s more than enough to cruise all over the Eastern and Western Med for the rest of the summer.
Sui Generis’ splashing marks another important moment for Baglietto. She represents the seventh superyacht to launch so far this year at the shipyard.
