Baglietto X50 Yacht Inaugurates New Baglietto XO Series for Adventurers

If you’re as enthusiastic about chasing horizons as you are arriving at a destination, you’re who Baglietto has in mind for its new XO series. The first project, the Baglietto X50 yacht, strives for more than being a long-range cruiser. The entire design revolves around the ideas of exploring, experiencing, and observing, in clever ways.

An explorer series is a significant change of pace for the shipyard, which celebrates its 170^th anniversary this year. But, the Baglietto XO series doesn’t stray too far from recent history. Long, full-height windows line each side of the 164-foot (50-meter) Baglietto X50 yacht, for instance. The upper deck, meanwhile, has opening glass walls the same as the Baglietto T52 yacht. Similarly, the open-plan main deck borrows cues from the T52 series. A large transformer platform at the water’s edge aft is steps away from a glass-fronted multi-purpose area. That area includes a gym and stowage for alfresco furnishings that go on deck when the tenders are in the water.

For her horizon-chasing soul, however, the Baglietto X50 yacht presents a few unexpected amenities. Firstly, she has a glass-wrapped, alfresco lounge just beneath her mast on the uppermost deck. Really, it’s much like an observation area, since it provides 360-degree views whether reclining or standing. Secondly, and more importantly, an all-weather observation lounge sits directly atop the wheelhouse. Not only does glass rim it, but also a large skylight nestles overhead. To encourage owners and guests to seek its coziness out on their journeys, Francesco Paszkowski Design and Baglietto envision plentiful large cushions and settees. This way, you can gaze forward, to the sides, or directly overhead, day and night. (On a related side note, the design inspiration for the lounge being atop the wheelhouse came from Italy’s famous ETR300 trains, nicknamed Settebello, from the 1950s. Paszkowski’s studio swapped the location of the driving area and the lounge, though.)

Even more unexpected, the observation lounge has a dedicated area with six big monitors. They’re capable of working in conjunction to display the same things or for use independently, too. For example, one guest might want to learn more about the next destination by exploring the yacht’s charts. Yet another guest might want to listen to music via headsets. You, meanwhile, might want to see what birds see, literally, when they fly over your yacht: Launch the drone that feeds live video right to your chosen screen.

With a hull designed for taking on choppy seas and aiding crew duties forward in sloppy conditions, the Baglietto X50 yacht should top out at 16 knots. The shipyard is offering clients wide-ranging customization for the general arrangement and on-deck areas, of course. But it believes buyers will appreciate solar panels atop the flying bridge, which can recharge electric watertoys. It further believes buyers will appreciate the research done into more environmentally friendly paints and other surfaces, too.
