Take a good look at the man in the lower portion of this photo (by Maurizio Paradisi) to get an idea of just how large Clarena II is. Measuring 72 meters, or about 246 feet, she’s the largest megayacht in the history of CRN shipyard–so large, in fact, that CRN had to build a special shed just to accommodate her.
This photo was taken as she was moved into her new home by hydraulic loaders. Measuring 95 meters long by 25 meters high, or about 312 feet long by 82 feet tall, the shed will be used for future projects, too, since CRN is taking orders for yachts to 80 meters LOA (262 feet).
As for Clarena II, when she’s ready for delivery next year, she’ll have a handful of innovative features to maximize her owner’s and her 12 guests’ enjoyment while cruising. Among these is a massive (try 393-square-foot) owner’s apartment containing a massage room and private theater, plus a hatch that can lower 90 degrees to form a balcony over the water. Then there’s the 300-square-foot-plus “beach club,” formed when a portion of the transom folds down to be practically flush with the water. The crew will then be able to set up beach chairs on the platform for guests wishing to relax. If they’re feeling more adventurous, they’ll have a host of toys to zip around on: a nearly 33-foot-long Riva Shuttle (capable of 45 knots, no less), a nearly 23-foot tender, and four Jet Skis.
With all the fun to be had, hopefully no one will ever catch a cold and slow down. But if they do, they can rest easy knowing a physician will be among the 28 staff aboard.
