While she’s only known as Project 2GES for now, this 164-footer is the newest contract signed in Christensen Shipyards’ Custom 50M Series. It’s the same series that includes Remember When as well as two megayachts presently under construction.
Similar to all of them, Project 2GES will accommodate a total of 12 in the owner’s party, with a traditional main-deck master suite being among the staterooms. In a first for a Christensen, a fold-down balcony will be on the upper deck, near the VIP stateroom but available for all guests and the owner to use.
No information is yet available on the decor or the interior designer. However, he or she will have plenty of space to arrange: more than 5,000 square feet (464.5 square meters) inside Project 2GES. An elevator will take guests from the megayacht’s lower-deck staterooms to the upper deck. Outside, there’ll be only slightly less space to enjoy, 4,000 square feet (about 372 square meters). Here, Project 2GES will have customary lounging, sunning, and dining spaces, accompanied by tender and toy stowage plus a touch-and-go helipad. For in-water fun, the megayacht’s swim platform will be hydraulically actuated, making it easier for divers and/or swimmers to get in and out of the water, for example.
Also like the other Custom 50M Series megayachts, Project 2GES will have a 29’6” (9-meter) beam and stay below the all-important 500-GRT threshold. Twin 1,770-hp MTU 12V 4000 diesel engines promise a leisurely 16.5-knot top end and cruise speed of 14 knots. Range should exceed 4,000 nautical miles when Project 2GES is close to cruise speed. In a first for this megayacht series, Project 2GES will have a separate genset room.
Project 2GES, whose construction will begin a little later this year, will meet ABS classification standards and the new LY3 regulations of the MCA Code. The latter is key for charter while in European waters. Delivery is set for 2016.
