Christensen Shipyards plans to deliver a 160-foot (49-meter) Custom Series megayacht to a repeat client.
The owner, Donald A. Burns, previously owned Cacique, which Christensen Shipyards recently refitted and rechristened First Draw. Besides being a repeat client—the 20th to date for Christensen—Burns will have his yacht registered under the U.S. flag. And she’ll be among the first U.S.-flagged megayachts permitted to charter with up to 12 guests in Europe.
Those 12 guests will be treated to an interior designed by VARO Interior Design, which is the same firm that re-envisioned First Draw’s interior. Sycamore wall paneling will be complemented by marble and other stone surfaces cut in-house by Christensen. Rosewood will be used for the megayacht’s furnishings, with the collective look promising to be lavish.
Highlights of the 160 Custom Series include the customary main-deck master suite and five guest staterooms below decks. A beam of 29’6” (9 meters) should translate to comfortable spaces inside and out. No doubt Burns and his guests will put the three different alfresco dining areas—two on the bridge deck, and one on the main aft deck, accompanied by a bar—to good use. There’s another bar on the sundeck, in proximity to relaxation/sunning spots and a hot tub. Touch-and-go helicopter operations will further be incorporated aboard the 160 Custom Series.
Performance-wise, the megayacht is expected to top out at 18 knots, powered by twin Caterpillar 3512s. The light-grey-painted 160 Custom Series will meet ABS and MCA requirements and be operated by a crew of 10.
