Twenty-four years after her owners took delivery from Feadship, Siran was handed back to them by the builder, following a nine-month refit.
The refit took place at the Makkum, Netherlands-based facility of Feadship. That yard specializes in construction and refit of super-size superyachts, well suited to the 229’7” (70-meter) Siran.
Among the tasks tackled during the refit: a hull paint job, and the installation of new, low-sound propellers. Modifications also took place inside Siran and out on deck. Two crew cabins were reconfigured for the benefit of junior-level crewmembers. The sundeck roof was lengthened a little more than eight feet (2.5 meters) as well. The goal was to provide better shelter when it’s windy. Complementing the longer roof, walls to each side were added, fitted with glass windbreaking panels that can pivot for the owners and guests to enjoy cool breezes. When back in place, the panels blend with the previously existing windows here on Siran.
Siran departed the Makkum facility earlier this week.
This wasn’t the first time Siran was refitted by her builder. From 2005 to 2007, Siran spent time at Feadship for a number of changes. These included a lengthening from her original 220-foot (67.01-meter) LOA. Siran also saw her sundeck first modified to include a gym and entertainment area.
Fun fact for those of you who pride yourself on yachting trivia: Siran was the seventh and last Feadship designed by the late Jon Bannenberg.
