Four years in the making, the yacht Serenity II is in the water at Alia Yachts, weeks from embarking on long-range cruising. The project is as significant for the shipyard as she is for her owner.
A multi-generational family’s sumptuous sanctuary, the 197-foot (60-meter) yacht Serenity II is entirely custom. The owner and his family have enjoyed cruising in each other’s company for more than a decade. For this project, he wanted a completely tailored superyacht for them to travel the world. “I dreamed of a place where I can be together with my family in comfort, seclusion, and style,” he explains.

With spaces to cozy up with each other and dine across four decks, the megayacht has a beam of 34 feet (10.4 meters). This, in combination with the interior volume of 1,062 gross tons, should make everything look and feel roomy. Four decks with these dimensions may give the impression of a massive-looking yacht. Although she certainly is long, the yacht Serenity II maintains a relatively sleek profile. The Vripack design studio took care of the styling as well as naval architecture to ensure this. “She has a very distinctive presence on the water, graceful and refined,“ says Gökhan Çelik, president of Alia Yachts.
Based in Turkey, Alia Yachts handled not only construction for the steel hull and aluminum superstructure, but all of the interior millwork. Although photos aren’t yet available, Bart Bouwhuis, Vripack’s co-creative director, considers the yacht “one of our most dazzling interiors yet.” From cabinetry mimicking ripples on the water’s surface to patterns in other woodwork depicting Arabic symbols, the in-house joinery department had tall orders.

“Serenity II is a yacht that perfectly reflects what Alia stands for today,” Çelik says. He further states that she is “technically ambitious,” with a slender hull form still permitting generous volume. With seven staterooms for 16 guests, a sizable beach club, and cabins for 13 crew and the captain, she’ll begin sea trials soon. Delivery will take place in time for the family to enjoy their first cruising season aboard in the Med.
