Come 2017, the 100-foot (30.5-meter) Silver Bullet will become the first sailing superyacht delivered by MCP Yachts.
MCP Yachts avers that the all-aluminum Silver Bullet’s accommodations will be akin to ones on larger yachts. It’s due to her semi-raised saloon configuration and waterline length of 96’1” (29.3 meters). Silver Bullet emphasizes single-level living, too. The owners and guests can venture from their cabins to the shaded cockpit with ease. (That cockpit, by the way, has a sliding roof.)
Six guests will be able to accompany the owners in their travels. One of the guest cabins is aft, just off the foyer to the master stateroom. The other two are forward of the saloon/dining area, which makes good use of the 23’3” (7.1-meter) beam.
MCP Yachts turned to A. Bottino Design & Engineering for Silver Bullet’s naval architecture. The firm’s principal, Alejandro Bottino, collaborated on the Wally 100 Alexia and a Wally 130, plus a number of smaller raceboats. He designed Silver Bullet to be simple and quick to maneuver. She features a self-tacking jib, with a sail area of 2,314 square feet (215 square meters), and no runners. The yacht also has a lifting keel. Draft is 8’2” (2.5 meters) with the keel raised and 14’8” (4.5 meters) with it down.
When Silver Bullet is sailing, the captain is still close to conversations in the cockpit. Other facts make her a social platform, too. Her aft “terrace,” as MCP Yachts calls it, can still be used underway. It’s a seating area with a hydraulic folding platform. A retractable bimini provides welcome sun and/or breeze protection when warranted, too. Note, too, that the terrace doubles as stowage for a PWC. It launches via an extending section of the boom. The tender is stowed in the foredeck, in a bay that doubles as a pool when the toy is offloaded. The tender gets deployed by the gennaker halyard.
Silver Bullet likely won’t be MCP Yachts’ last sailing superyacht. It’s formed the MCP Sailing Yachts Division to pursue further similar projects. Bottino and North Sails are its preferred partners in the venture.
