Brazil-based MCP Yachts has its second MCP 106LE in build. And, rather than simply take a photo while she’s in an initial construction stage and wait until she’s ready for launch, the builder has been documenting the entire process. The video below provides a timelapse look at her progress to date. It starts with her aluminum keel laying and ends with the recent transfer of the MCP 106LE into her final outfitting shed.
Not as well known as other builders, MCP Yachts draws on the experience of being part of a larger shipbuilding company. Its parent focuses on commercial and military projects, also in all aluminum. MCP Yachts itself offers projects from 76 to 140 feet (23 to 42.7 meters). It has already built a few 76-footers, for example. And, the MCP 106LE in build is its second to date. The first, christened Mars, was delivered in 2014.
Highlights of the MCP 106LE include a fold-down balcony off the saloon. There’s also a full-beam (23’7”, or 7.22-meter) owner’s suite on the main deck, rimmed with windows. The 5’10” (1.82-meter) draft will allows the MCP 106LE to access a variety of shallow-water destinations. She’ll make quick work of getting to those spots, too. MCP Yachts anticipates a top end of 24 knots and a cruise of 20 knots with 1,825-hp Caterpillars. The shipyard also says she should burn about 22 gph (83 lph) at 10.8 knots.
