The 26th-annual Monaco Yacht Show is this week. Being the first superyacht show of the boat-show season, it holds significance. It further is important because the event is second only to the annual Grand Prix in terms of the influx of people into the principality of Monaco. On a social media scale, the Monaco Yacht Show generates thousands of updates, photos, and videos, all shared with a few simple hashtags, like #MYS2016.
In fact, nearly 600 exhibitors, hundreds (if not thousands) of visitors, and hundreds of media from around the globe are posting on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and more right now using #MYS2016. Our staff is included in that mix. Our editor and some of our contributors are visiting about 10 percent of the 125+ megayachts on display, focusing on the year’s newest launches. (About 40 of the yachts in the show are new.) They include:
- Ouranos and Quinta Essentia, both from The Italian Sea Group
- Coral Ocean, recently refitted by Lürssen
- Maybe, by Metalships
- Galactica Super Nova, by Heesen Yachts
- Fast & Furious, by Amels
- the Mangusta Oceano 42, by Overmarine Group.
We are sharing our thoughts about the yachts, and as many photos as we are permitted to take (some owners want cameras kept on the dock), as we step off the passerelles. You can see the livestream from Twitter in the box below, along with the comments and observations from the numerous other attendees using #MYS2016.
Also each day during the show, a number of yacht builders are holding press conferences. They’re announcing new projects, acquisitions of other shipyards, and expansions of services. We’ll have detailed coverage in articles this week and in the coming days. But, just like our yacht tours, we are sharing some of the biggest updates on social media. We’re capturing all the conversations about the Monaco Yacht Show that are tagged with #MYS2016 below as well.
Check back here to see the latest updates each day; the show concludes on Saturday.
