Getting the keys to your yacht is about as exciting as getting the keys to your first car. And there indeed are keys for superyachts, as you’ll see in the arrival of the Nordhavn 80-02, the second hull in its 80 series. As for the excitement, well, pay attention to the look on the Nordhavn representative’s face when he sees the interior. Additionally related to excitement, as of this writing, this two-week-old video has attracted more than 9,000 views on YouTube.
With four staterooms in the standard configuration, the Nordhavn 80 series offers interiors from Vripack. It’s the first time the Dutch design studio and the shipyard have worked together. The series is further the fourth-largest for Nordhavn, eclipsed only by the N86, N96, and N120. The shipyard decided to introduce the 80 because it was quite a leap for customers to go from the N76 model directly into the N86. Unchanged, though, is the emphasis on owner-operated yachts.
With a more modern interior design compared to other Nordhavns, the Nordhavn 80-02 shows off abundant stonework. She has more contemporary-looking wood paneling as well, both in the tone and shapes on walls and overhead. While she saw construction in Taiwan, in a relatively new facility for the brand, she’s undergoing her final outfitting in Dana Point, California. This is in keeping with tradition for all of the builder’s boats and megayachts.
The weather may not have been the nicest for the superyacht’s arrival. But then again, murky skies are nothing for this rugged yacht. Nordhavns are serious bluewater cruisers, with multiple owners making transatlantic crossings year after year. Look for future owners of the Nordhavn 80 series to do the same. As for those owners, hull number four was already in the early stages of construction at the end of last year. It’s proof the series is popular, having just debuted two years ago.
