The craftspeople at the Wider Vision Hub shipyard in Fano, Italy have celebrated the launch of their second megayacht catamaran. The yacht Atali will take her owner and family on voyages they plan as closely as they and their team the design of the project.
Atali—not to be confused with the similar-sounding yacht Acali, the first WiderCat92, visible in the photo below—underwent construction with the family’s captain serving as the project manager. The captain visited the shipyard to follow progress and be the owner’s ears and eyes.

The owner, having a few years of experience buying yachts, has several advantages with the WiderCat 92 platform. Firstly, the beamy nature of catamarans puts 39 feet (12 meters) of port-to-starboard space under everyone’s feet. That beam makes the master suite especially look and feel ample, since it sits forward on the main deck. Yet another advantage, a comfortable, private alfresco lounge connected to the master. The openness will lure the owner and his wife to soak up some sun, enjoy a sunset cocktail, or take in the scenery while the yacht is underway.
Further thanks to the big beam, aided by folding bulwarks, the yacht Atali has a huge beach club. It’s a full 721 square feet (67 square meters) of space with the platforms open. Since it contains a wetbar and is accessible directly from the two aft-most VIP staterooms below decks, the beach club likely will get a lot of use. It can be the watertoy-boarding area, too, when the crew deploys the tender stowing on the swim platform and/or the two PWCs. (Those PWCs stow in the beach club, since it does double duty as a garage.)
While the yacht Atali shares some similarities with the first WiderCat 92, such as a total of four staterooms, she reflects several specific desires of the owner and his wife. For instance, family meals can occur at the aft-deck dining table while the chef cooks at the adjacent Teppanyaki-style grill. The galley, meanwhile, is in the port-side hull (the first launch puts it on the main deck). Notably, though, a pantry sits on the main deck, containing a refrigerator and dishwasher, too. Throughout the yacht Atali, the owner’s wife chose to play up the sun streaming through the windows with light colors and natural materials. Earthy tones and soft textiles invite everyone to sit and relax a while as well.

One of the biggest attractions for the owner of Atali is the hybrid propulsion system. In fact, every WiderCat 92 exclusively features hybrid propulsion. The system pairs two 500-kW electric motors with thrusters, while two 349-kW variable-speed gensets deliver electric energy to a battery bank. Under just the electric motors, the megayacht should be able to cover 27 nautical miles at 6 knots, silently. At anchor, meanwhile, the batteries can keep the air conditioning and other needs running for 14 hours. Finally, 807 square feet (75 square meters) of solar panels on the yacht’s roof should keep the battery bank fully topped.
The yacht Atali still has several more weeks of work to wrap up before delivery. On a related note, the WiderCat 92 series will see further launches over the next year, considering three more hulls are in various stages of construction. Overall, large catamarans continue to attract cruisers seeking the extra stability and extra space that has earned them renown.
