UPDATE, MAY 20, 2025: Hull number one of the Outer Reef 780 Adventure yacht series celebrated her launch and christening earlier this month. She remains available for sale, since construction has been on spec. Read on for our original article.

The first Outer Reef 780 Adventure yacht is inaugurating a new era for Outer Reef Yachts. She’s its first steel project, and the first of a few superyacht models to come.

The 780 Adventure yacht series resulted when Outer Reef merged with Lynx Yachts, a Dutch builder of superyachts. Lynx Yachts, about an hour’s drive east from the Amsterdam airport in Nijkerk, had begun building a model, the Adventure 24 yacht, on spec in 2023. That go-anywhere project underwent a name change in 2024 to better reflect Outer Reef’s models.

Since Outer Reef clients prioritize long-range cruising, this entry-level megayacht model is no different. “Adventure” signifies the more ambitious travels that owners can enjoy. Besides having a steel hull to stand up to more challenging conditions, the engine package opens up a wide variety of destinations. In fact, the twin Cummins engines should allow a 3,000-nautical-mile range at 7 knots. Even at her anticipated cruising speed of just over 11 knots, the Outer Reef 780 Adventure yacht should be able to cover 1,450 nautical miles. Further noteworthy, fuel consumption at 7 knots should be just 9 gph (33 lph). At cruising speed, meanwhile, it should be about 30 gph (112 lph).

That type of flexible cruising is equally represented in the yacht’s layout. The first Outer Reef 780 Adventure yacht features three staterooms, including of course a full-beam master suite. However, slightly larger families or groups of friends can request four staterooms for future hulls. In that case, the full-beam master becomes two equal-sized VIPs. Yet another lifestyle choice: owners being operators or owners hiring up to four among the captain and crew.

Because cruising is really all about immersing oneself in the scenery, the yacht devotes good space to alfresco lounging, entertaining, and dining across two decks. Furthermore, the deep swim platform is an ideal watertoy-boarding area.

Since hull number one is still for sale, buyers have time to personalize the design—and plan global travels.
