Lazzara EX 165 Yacht Is Lazzara Yachts’ Entry Into Expedition Cruising

Construction won’t start until early next year, but a nearly 164-footer (50-meter) will make her mark as Lazzara Yachts’ biggest boat so far. The Lazzara EX 165 yacht additionally will meet Lloyd’s classification for unrestricted navigation.

Featuring a steel hull, the new yacht will cater to worldwide cruising. In fact, the owner intends to visit colder climes, not just sunny and sandy coastlines. Although Lazzara Yachts hasn’t specified her anticipated performance, the Lazzara EX 165 yacht should be capable of ocean crossings.

Lazzara is keeping many of the details about the Lazzara EX 165 yacht’s design and features close to its vest. As has been its approach for some of its smaller projects, she could be an entirely in-house design. However, much like the recently announced Lazzara UHV 150 yacht (below), the yard could be collaborating with outside studios. That particular project features naval architecture, including her fast-displacement hull form, by Mulder Design, representing the first time they’re working together. On a related note, the UHV 150 is the builder’s largest yacht currently under construction.

For now, Lazzara does confirm that six staterooms will accommodate a party of 12 aboard the EX 165. A captain and 10 crewmembers will be aboard as well. Notably, once the megayacht is in the owner’s hands, charter guests will be able to book her for certain dates. Tristan Mortlock, the founder and director of UK-based Mortlock Yachts, introduced the owner to Lazzara. The firm will serve as the owner’s representative during construction, plus manage the megayacht for charter.

George Chirakadze, CEO of Lazzara Yachts, considers the Lazzara EX 165 yacht “a new benchmark in expedition yacht engineering.” He further notes how she broadens the yard’s reach into a larger size range and extended offshore cruising.
