The owners of hull 33 in the Horizon FD90 series couldn’t resist paying homage to their family’s ties to mining by christening their yacht LiTHIUM+. Simultaneously, they couldn’t resist making this yacht very much their own, with a galley at the aft-deck entrance and more features that will definitely surprise you.

The owners are previous Horizon customers, stepping up from an E78—which they named LiTHIUM. The FD90 series—which is Horizon Yachts’ most popular among all the FD options—offered them more space and therefore more flexibility. Having a full-beam main-deck master suite was a big plus. More so was the ability to completely arrange the interior as they wished. This included incorporating a sauna into their private domain. It’s lined with cypress and has LEDs specifically for chromotherapy, the use of colors to promote physical and mental wellbeing.

As unusual as that is, though, the main deck’s arrangement stands out the most. The owners of the yacht LiTHIUM+ designed an open galley just inside the aft-deck doors. It’s not just a crew space, either, since three barstools tuck under the Taj Mahal quartzite counter. For families where meal preparation is as enjoyable as eating, it’s a welcoming touch. Though it may seem compact, it’s quite practical. A seemingly simple faucet is actually a Zip Water HydroTap, producing on-demand filtered, boiled, chilled, and sparkling water. Opposite the cooking area, Horizon turned the wall into a cool room and installed a Vintec wine chiller.

The galley-aft design is practical, too. The formal dining area is just forward, for example—where you’d expect the saloon to be. Yet another dining table is just outside. The alfresco table benefits from a nearby refrigerator, too.

The more you look around the yacht LiTHIUM+, the more you notice that practical features abound. When guests board, handy custom shoe stowage awaits them to port on the main aft deck. One of the four VIP staterooms below decks, meanwhile, has good stowage beneath the bed base, accessible at the press of a button. The base raises with the help of a gas-assisted telescopic rod and an electrically actuated lift. Up in the cozy wheelhouse, a settee converts to a berth. On the foredeck, a sliding table joins the seating area.

Practical needs combine with fun across the entire indoor-outdoor skylounge, whether the yacht LiTHIUM+ is underway or at anchor. It’s fully open aft and shaded forward, with no doors separating the two sections. A three-door refrigerator and an icemaker are close by a hi-low sliding table and seating area under the hardtop. Just opposite is a kitted-out tappanyaki grill, beer chiller, and a bar. There’s further a 43-inch TV. A stone’s throw away, in full sun: a hot tub, of course, with an accompanying wet bar and four ottomans. Purple underlighting adds flair in every corner plus overhead.

The pièce de résistance In terms of practical-meets-fun, however, is the eye-catching light overhead in the saloon. Its curvy custom design echoes in the rounded shapes of the furnishings in the dining area and saloon. At night, it casts a warm glow across the bleached-teak and white-lacquered paneling and herringbone-patterned oak soles. Thankfully, though, it doesn’t take attention away from a backlit display of raw lithium ore in the saloon, a tribute to the family business.

With a hydraulically folding mast to permit passage under low bridges, the yacht LiTHIUM+ is about to help this family make new cruising memories.
