Being capricious—capricciosa in Italian—isn’t always a positive thing. But, the yacht Principessa Capricciosa is 125 feet of continual enjoyment of the sea.

Celebrating her launch this month at Columbus Yachts, the project is part of the Columbus Atlantique range, specifically an Atlantique 38 model. Although she’s the smallest of that range, she bears similarities to bigger sisterships like the yacht Night Fury, an Atlantique 43. The most noticeable similarity is a design feature echoing the shape of sailing yachts. It’s the softly rounded transom, thanks to the design studio Hot Lab. The curves wrap around an open beach area that is additionally about 20 inches above the water.
Altogether, the beach area encourages the owners and guests of the yacht Principessa Capricciosa to spend the full day outside. Several people can sit together facing the pool, and the horizon well beyond it. In a nice touch, the pool has a glass front. It’s easy enough to use the deck areas to each side of the pool, meanwhile, to climb aboard watertoys—which stow in a starboard-side garage. For a little less action but still prioritizing time together while enjoying a light breeze, the yacht Principessa Capricciosa has a dining area on the uppermost level of the multi-level beach area.

Further alfresco dining, lounging, and cocktail hours can take place fore and aft on the upper deck. A fixed hardtop provides shade when wanted, too.
With an interior volume of 299 gross tons, the Columbus Atlantique 38 superyacht series is compact. But, it still affords comfortable accommodations. Columbus Yachts builds the series on a semi-custom basis, so the owner of the yacht Principessa Capricciosa chose a five-cabin configuration for 12 people. This puts the master suite on the main deck and all guests below deck. Besides having his-and-her baths, the master suite enjoys access to a private forward alfresco space.

The yacht Principessa Capricciosa, the fourth Columbus Atlantique launch to date, will undergo sea trials soon. Columbus Yachts expects a cruising speed of 19 knots and a top speed of 22 knots. A crew of six plus a captain will take care of operations.
