Megayacht owners are increasingly asking for privacy these days, and shipyards are naturally complying. This may explain why there was no fanfare when Numptia launched at Rossi Navi’s Viareggio, Italy facility in April.
It may also explain why she’s been referred to simply by her build number, FR20. Regardless, a few facts are known. Measuring 70 meters (230 feet), Numptia features the customary steel hull and aluminum superstructure. The experienced owner outlined an “exhaustive brief,” according to Design Studio Spadolini, which was responsible for the exterior design. Among his wishes: indoor-outdoor areas connected by floor-to-ceiling sliding-glass doors. Judging from another specific requirement, it appears the owner intends to entertain frequently or at the very least enjoy a high level of food service. Why? Because Design Studio Spadolini states that service passageways needed to be designed around “extensive use of industrial food trolleys.”
Other quick facts: There are accommodations for the owner’s party of 12 and a crew of 19, with interior design by Studio Salvagni. Beam is 12.5 meters (41 feet), which should translate into comfortable spaces. Power comes courtesy of twin Caterpillar 3516 diesel inboards, permitting a reported 15-knot cruising speed at full load. The top-end design speed is 19 knots. Range should be 6,000 nautical miles at cruise. Wing stations extend out on both sides of the yacht for navigational ease. And as is the fashion these days, side hatches aft and toward the waterline likely conceal tender garages. A rescue tender and dedicated davit are concealed on the bow.
Numptia should be handed over to her owner in the coming weeks.
