Nearly always with semi-custom construction, builders emphasize interior flexibility. Rarely do they discuss the technical advantages, or let you change the superstructure. Antonini Navi is leveraging all of this for its first series build. It additionally pledges that its UP40 steel hull platform, for a 131-footer (40-meter), not only offers transatlantic range, but also lets you take delivery within one year of contract signing
Antonini Navi, the new megayacht brand of the longstanding Gruppo Antonini shipyard, is building both fully custom and semi-custom projects. Semi-custom construction saves time, and especially money, for both the yacht owner and the shipyard. In fact, the builder wants buyers to understand that they can take delivery of a UP40 yacht in nearly half the time it takes for a custom yacht. This is true even with you being able to choose among three superstructure styles, it adds—and make your final decision even after hull construction starts.
Aldo Manna, sales manager for Antonini Navi, says it’s possible because of the shipyard’s upfront investments in research, design, and engineering. “We created a modular platform designed down to the tiniest detail, enabling us to start building the hull and choose the type and concept at a later stage, even halfway through the construction process,” he explains. It’s an approach common in fiberglass yachts, but not steel-hulled yachts.
Antonini Navi collaborated with Fulvio De Simoni for the three most popular superstructure styles right now. The first is the straightforward, modern Motoryacht. The second is the Crossover, bearing more streamlined looks. Finally, you can opt for the Sport Explorer, for a more intrepid profile. Interestingly, each is a raised-pilothouse design inside, and each offers great variety aft for personalization. Personalization is entirely open inside, too, from number and size of staterooms to toy stowage.
Whatever you decide, the UP40 platform promises a top speed around 14 knots and cruising speed of 12 knots. Additionally, you can expect a range upwards of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
Antonini Navi anticipates starting its first UP40 hull in September.
