53-Meter Admiral Panorama Yacht Confirms The Italian Sea Group Made the Right Move

Custom superyacht construction has laid at the heart of everything that The Italian Sea Group has done since it launched its first project. A newly signed 53-meter Admiral Panorama yacht is hull number three in a new semi-custom series, however. The deal has re-affirmed the company’s commitment to broadening its offerings.

The Italian Sea Group launched into semi-custom construction with the initial Panorama concept unveiling last fall. At the time, Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group, explained. “Serial production will allow us to expand sales, avoiding the involvement of the group’s design skills committed to large custom-made yachts.” He further explained that only contracted yachts, no spec projects, would see construction.

The new 174-footer (53-meter) is for a customer from Mexico. (On a related side note, North America is a growing market for The Italian Sea Group.) Additionally, she’s the first Admiral Panorama to feature hybrid propulsion. Overall, she adds to a growing number of hybrid yachts for The Italian Sea Group. In fact, Costantino says, “I am very proud to say that, today with a total of 22 yachts in production more than half are oriented to hybrid innovation.” Notably, the Group’s first hybrid yacht was the 2018 launch Quinta Essentia.

The 53-meter Admiral Panorama yacht will employ twin MAN diesels, four variable-speed gensets, two permanent magnet electric engines, and a battery bank. This therefore affords a variety of operational profiles. For instance, the captain can shut down the gensets and let the main engines and electric engines (serving as alternators) not only power everything aboard, but also recharge the battery bank while cruising. The batteries, of course, can handle air conditioning, lighting, and other hotel loads on their own throughout the day or night when needed. Specifically, they can provide electricity for eight hours. Similarly, the batteries can take on navigating and docking duties upon entering sensitive ports, upon shutting down the MANs and gensets. Finally, a popular function for the batteries is taking over peak electricity loads from the second genset. This so-called peak shaving can occur for short periods, smoothly supplementing genset number one.

Although the 53-meter Admiral Panorama yacht full profile and interior design remain under wraps, a few facts are known. The owner naturally will have a main-deck master suite, with a private alfresco area, too. Five guest staterooms, meanwhile, will sit below decks. And, rather than stow watertoys in a garage, the megayacht will keep them on the foredeck. They’ll include two PWCs and a 25-foot (7.5-meter) tender. Naturally, the décor will include abundant woods and marbles, among other materials.

The shipyard and the owner’s representatives from FGI Yacht Group in the United States anticipate delivery in December 2025.
