The Italian Sea Group is changing strategies with its Admiral brand of superyachts. Rather than solely continue pursuing fully custom yachts, it’s adding series builds. The first semi-custom series could very well be the one pictured here, the Admiral Panorama yacht.
With an LOA of 164 feet (50 meters) and a volume of 499 gross tons, the Admiral Panorama yacht fits well into the marketplace. The fact that volume remains below the 500-gross-ton mark is especially a strong selling point, keeping regulatory requirements simpler. The size, of course, is in demand, too. It’s comfortable enough for an owner’s party of 12 and for transatlantic crossings on her own bottom.
The steel hull and aluminum superstructure suit Admiral Yachts’ tradition. But the introduction of semi-custom construction may raise some eyebrows. Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group, begs to differ, however. “Serial production will allow us to expand sales, avoiding the involvement of the group’s design skills committed to large custom-made yachts,” he explains. He goes on to stress that the Admiral Panorama yacht, as well as future series, will only begin construction upon contract signing, not on spec.
A major reason why Costantino says The Italian Sea Group feels confident it can make this change is due to the acquisition of Perini Navi. “A significant increase in production capacity has been made possible,” he explains. Additionally, Costantino points out that The Italian Sea Group already has a semi-custom brand in the family, that being Picchiotti.
With styling and interior design by Piredda & Partners, the Admiral Panorama yacht is an entirely Italian-built and -designed project. Piredda & Partners’ founder, Nicolò Piredda, has a few years of experience prior to hanging his own shingle. Specifically, he won a young designer’s award in 2018 while still a student. Soon afterwards, Piredda landed his first full-time job in yacht design, with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. For the Admiral project, Piredda & Partners highlights the volume with high ceiling heights, along with today’s penchant for big windows. Light-tone woods do the trick, too, and pair with unhewn stone and metals.
Of course, buyers will tailor the Admiral Panorama yacht to their liking. Regardless, they get four guest suites on the main deck, quite unusually, and a VIP below decks. The latter transforms into a TV room as well if so desired. Notably, it adjoins a gym. Owners, meanwhile, get an aerie on the upper deck, with wrap-around windows. A private alfresco area awaits just forward, the ideal place to watch horizons come into view.
