Come winter, yacht owners and their frequent guests prefer warm-weather destinations, versus ski chalets. (Come to think of it, we do, too.) The perennially popular islands of the Caribbean bring megayachts back season after season. It’s especially true for the days from Christmas to New Year’s. In fact, some spectacular fireworks celebrations ring in the New Year over the islands. Therefore, what better place to watch them than from the deck of a yacht? And, what better way to welcome a whole new year than in a relaxed, blissful state? While dozens of megayachts are currently in the Caribbean, these are the nine biggest megayachts ringing in 2019 there.
Eclipse. At 533 feet (162.5 meters), Eclipse dominates any harbor she enters. She’s currently in St. Barths, among good company. In fact, when we checked AIS data, there were so many megayachts ringing in 2019 there that you’d have to weave in and out of the anchorage.
Rising Sun (above). Eighteen guests can stay aboard this 454-footer (138.4-meter). She, too, is in St. Barths. Fun fact: She can outrun most of the yachts after the holidays end, given a reported top speed of 28 knots.
Le Grand Bleu. Yet another megayacht ringing in the New Year in St. Barths, Le Grand Bleu measures 370 feet (112.8 meters). Similar to other yachts mentioned here, she returns to the Caribbean year after year.
Anna. Just delivered by Feadship a few months ago, this 361-footer (110-meter) is visiting St. Barths for the first time.
Symphony. Symphony is enjoying the sights in (guess where?) St. Barths as well. Fun fact about her: Symphony was Feadship’s largest delivery until it handed over Anna. LOA: 333 feet (101.5 meters).
Limitless. Ever since delivery way back in 1997, Limitless has spent winters in the Caribbean. She’s currently in St. Maarten. Coming in at 316 feet (96.25 meters), she’s still in her original owner’s hands, too. Leslie Wexner (think Victoria’s Secret and other clothing brands) was inspired by the famous Carinthia VI for her styling.
Tatoosh. The estate of the late Paul Allen has Tatoosh in Virgin Gorda as of this writing. The limestone fireplace onboard won’t get any use, of course, given the warm weather. But her aft-deck swimming pool might. LOA: 303 feet (92.42 meters).
Aquarius. What makes Aquarius (above) special among the biggest megayachts ringing in 2019 in the Caribbean? Her length, for one thing: 302 feet (92 meters). In addition, she’s a repeat visitor. Currently, she’s in St. Barths. Check out this video of Aquarius to get a sense of life aboard.
Phoenix². Just shy of 296 feet (90.1 meters), Phoenix² is spending the winter chartering in the Caribbean. She also commands one of the highest rates, $1 million per week. St. Maarten is her current location.
