Some superyacht owners prefer keeping their yachts out of the limelight. But, when they change their minds, we’re all in for a treat. Such is the case with the owner of Aquarius, delivered by Feadship a little over a year ago. While this video doesn’t show every room, it’s still as close to a day aboard Aquarius as you can get.
Launched in September 2016, and premiering at this past Monaco Yacht Show, Aquarius is the largest yacht for her owner so far. Measuring nearly 302 feet (92 meters), she’s purely for private use, too, with select friends and family. Between his cruising experience and thorough business experience in casinos and hospitality, he had quite specific ideas for how life aboard Aquarius should play out. (Though Feadship never named him, the owner is Steve Wynn.) Indeed, he began sharing those ideas with Feadship well before the contract signing. He also spent two years planning out this specific design with Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design for the styling and interior design as well as De Voogt Naval Architects for the naval architecture.
As you’ll see, it was quite important to have large lounge areas, for conversation, cocktails, and more. It was also important for anyone spending a day aboard Aquarius to enjoy terrific views, no matter what deck they were on. Furthermore, with a 44’3” (13.5-meter) beam, the superyacht certainly looks and feels spacious. As expansive as some of those areas are, though, they’re not overwhelming. (We were among select journalists invited aboard for a tour at the Monaco show and saw for ourselves.)
Two “intense” years, to use the owner’s word, resulted in the design glimpses you get. As you enjoy a virtual day aboard Aquarius, also take note of star-like LEDs coming on toward nighttime outside. Keep in mind, too, that the owner has been putting her to good use. He enjoyed three straight months of cruising last summer, prior to the Monaco show. She’ll spend some pleasure time on this side of the Atlantic this year.
