The first launch of the year from Ferretti Yachts hit the water last week. Hull number one of the Ferretti Yachts 940 yacht series is the second-largest among the shipyard’s Flybridge range.
Just like the rest of the Flybridge range, which includes the flagship Ferretti Yachts 1000, the new series is sporty in profile. This 95-footer (nearly 29-meter) continues the new styling direction for the overall range, too, which started with the Ferretti Yachts 1000. It’s sharper, and more complementary of spending longer periods onboard, particularly through the use of more glass. This includes a glass bulwark aft on the main deck, adjacent to the seating area. The looks come from Filippo Salvetti, with the Ferretti Group’s engineering division responsible for naval architecture. One difference, though, is that the Ferretti Yachts 940 is a partial widebody, a.k.a. full-beam, project. Specifically, the main-deck master suite is the full width.

Since she’s a flying-bridge model, the Ferretti Yachts 940 yacht series provides alfresco dining and lounging/sunning areas up top. Due to the widebody configuration, side decks from the foredeck lead up sets of stairs where they meet the master suite. They re-emerge alongside the saloon and dining area, also thanks to a set of stairs. This way, crew can still access gear, just beyond the raised pilothouse.
Because Ferretti Yachts wants interior areas to be as welcoming as alfresco ones, the megayacht has some spacious social and private spaces. For instance, the main saloon encompasses about 323 square feet (30 square meters). When guests and owners dine just forward, they might feel as if they’re outside. It’s because of a full-height glass wall—sliding open on hull number one—as well as a glass bulwark section just beyond it. The concept of unobstructed views extends to the raised pilothouse, too. Although smaller models have mullions, the Ferretti Yachts 940 yacht series has a single glass windshield.

Ideaeitalia collaborated with the owner of hull number one on the Classic décor package. Earthy tones characterize the main deck plus the three VIP staterooms and twin stateroom below decks. An especially striking element is the Silver Roots marble in the master suite, with rich charcoal, taupe, and gold tones. Specifically, it covers the desk, the wall behind a settee, and part of the en suite bath. (Overall, clients can choose between this package and a more contemporary look, with lighter colors.)
According to the shipyard, the yacht should cruise at 21 knots and top out at 25 knots. Upon delivery, the owner intends to cruise in Italian waters. There’s no word yet, though, of whether the first or subsequent hulls will be available to see at the fall boat shows.
