With a nearly 300-square-foot (27-square-meter), full-beam master suite, the Ferretti Yachts 940 yacht series makes stepping up into megayacht ownership all the more enjoyable. Specially invited clients got the first looks at it, along with the rest of the amenities, at her premiere at last month’s Venice Boat Show.
The builder’s latest flybridge megayacht model picks up styling and spatial arrangements introduced on the Ferretti Yachts 1000. At 95 feet (28.97 meters) LOA, she can accommodate a big party while still giving everyone big spaces. In fact, eight family and friends can accompany you on coastal cruises or hops over to the islands. You might feel as if you have your own private island onboard because your suite is separate from their cabins, forward on the main deck. Both the sleeping area and your en suite bath span the full beam. (Beam is 22 feet/6.76 meters.) Whenever your group is inside, you still essentially feel as if you’re outside, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. In fact, you have the option of slide-open glass to starboard alongside the dining area.
Since the Ferretti Yachts 940 yacht series is semi-custom, you actually have several attractive options. For example, three layouts are available for just the saloon. The standard arrangement features a corner settee facing the TV, atop cabinetry. For daytrips or days-long trips with every stateroom occupied, though, you might prefer two settees. If stowage is a bigger concern, swap out the second settee for a suitable place to tuck everything away. With both of these options, it’s worth noting, the TV hides in a wall compartment.
Alfresco areas offer you further choices. Loose furnishings can turn the aft end of the flying bridge into an exclusive sunning zone, or seating benefitting from stunning views. Even the hardtop, providing welcome shade over the central dining area and the second helm—this is a flying-bridge yacht, after all—comes in two designs. Go with either a typical solid structure or one with louvers in the center. Regardless, you can treat your guests to lunch and a show thanks to the outdoor cooking area beneath the hardtop, too.
Making your chef’s typical duties more practical, the main galley is just forward of the dining area on the main deck. The Ferretti Yachts 940 yacht series incorporates a few similarly practical features for all of the crew as well. Each crew cabin below decks has a private head, for instance. Your captain’s cabin additionally can be a single or a double. Naturally, the crew have access from their quarters to the galley and up to the pilothouse, where no pillar interrupts the windshield, all on the port side. Another smart move, the entry-level superyacht has direct access from the galley to the side deck for provisioning.
With a big foredeck lounge and sunning area—conveniently with built-in glass holders—the Ferretti Yachts 940 yacht series doesn’t forego toy stowage. A 13-foot (4.1-meter) tender launches from the garage, made easier because the swim platform lowers beneath the water when needed.
The last big decisions you have are to decide is how fast you want to go and what décor you prefer. Select either 2,000-hp MANs for an expected cruise of 21 knots or 2,200-hp MANs for an anticipated 23-knot cruise. The Ideaeitalia design studio, meanwhile, has two interior moods from which to choose. If you like blues, greens, and similar ocean-like tones, go with the Contemporary package. If earthy colors are more your style, though, you’ll like the Classic mood.
