First came Barong B, then Barong C. So naturally, the third Wally sailing superyacht for the same clients is christened Barong D.
Barong D is a Wally 110, a step up from a Wally 94 in 2005 and a Wally 80 five years prior to that. Because she emphasizes performance, she’s constructed of carbon fiber and composite. For the same reason, a good deal of attention was paid to the weight of switch panels and cables by Frers Naval Architecture & Design and Wally. Also among the highlights, as is customary for this type of sailing superyacht: a self-tacking jib, and push-button sail trimming. The total sail area is 5,791 square feet (538 square meters).
Since the owners like to spend many months cruising, Barong D reflects a lot of their input. She’s arranged similarly to their previous yachts, for example, with a forward master and aft crew areas. Two guest staterooms are in proximity to their cabin, the latter featuring two large beds (one chosen over the other depending on the sailing conditions that Barong D is meeting). Pickled oak paneling is paired with deep blues for fabrics, plus exposed (but glossed, of course) carbon fiber soles. Outside, the color choice continues, in the form of hull paint. Beige fabrics are spread across the amidships cockpit and aft sunning spaces. To put interior and exterior spaces into perspective, Barong D has a beam of 24’5” (7.47 meters).
Wally plans to deliver Barong D (hull #44 overall for the builder, by the way) by the end of May.
