Yacht Mustique in Below Deck Med: Learn All About Her

UPDATE, APRIL 24, 2024: The yacht Mustique (which sold in January of this year and now goes by Purpose) is making back-to-back appearances in Below Deck Mediterranean. Having debuted in season 8, she returns for season 9, which premieres on June 3. Notably, the same season marks the eighth in a row for Capt. Sandy Yawn. However, in a first for Below Deck Mediterranean, filming took place around Athens, Greece. Teaser below; read on beneath it for our original article about the superyacht’s features.

American Below Deck fans need only wait until September 25 to see the newest episodes, and of course a new superyacht. The yacht Mustique appears in Below Deck Mediterranean season 8, amid the stunning scenery of Italy’s Ligurian coastline.

The show, which airs on Bravo, began filming last September in the Cinque Terre region of Italy, wrapping up during the fall, too. Since the series debuted in 2017, it’s been common practice to film each season the year prior. Returning to the wheelhouse is Capt. Sandy Yawn, who’s been with the series since the second season. Speaking with TV-news website Primetimer, Yawn says of season 8, “You’re gonna have a travel show that highlights the beautiful yachts, and then you have the personality conflicts, and then you have the love affairs and the breakups, the meltodowns.” She adds, “You know, the typical Below Deck experience.”

All of this takes place aboard the yacht Mustique, a 180-footer (55-meter) from 2005. She saw construction at Trinity Yachts as Mia Elise for an American who owned 100-plus automobile dealerships and was a cruising enthusiast. Notably, the project was the U.S. shipyard’s first steel-hulled white yacht. (Trinity did build two expedition yachts with steel hulls previously. All of its traditional white yachts, however, had aluminum hulls.) Even though the megayacht has made her way into other owners’ hands and undergone upgrades, most recently in 2018, she preserves much of her original opulent Dee Robinson interior.

The opulence greets guests immediately when they step inside, thanks to deep-toned mahogany paneling. It figures prominently in the main saloon and the formal dining area, carrying straight through to the main-deck master suite. Five further staterooms sit below decks, all except one having king beds. The last guest stateroom has twin beds. A marble-topped bar is a highlight of the skylounge, while a baby grand piano keeps friends and family entertained.

Alfresco spaces are equally for luxuriating, from the hot-tub-equipped sundeck to the main-deck dining space. Even with some watertoy stowage aft on the bridge deck, guests have abundant space to spread out throughout each day’s journey.

Speaking of journeys, you can enjoy some onboard, since the yacht Mustique charters. Her weekly base rate is from €230,000 to €250,000, plus expenses.

Mustique is the latest in a long line of yachts in TV’s Below Deck franchise available for charter. Below Deck Mediterranean season 7’s Home, for example, charters for a weekly base rate of $245,000. The most expensive charter yacht on the show so far, meanwhile, is St. David. Her weekly rate starts at $345,000.
